Depends on the mirror. The one I mentioned is fairly fast but doesn't allow 
rsync connections.

It's strange that the torrent was so slow. I had it running in upload only 
mode for 2 days. Set for 25 kilo-bytes upload limit. 

Oh well... the next alpha or a beta will probably be along in a bit anyway.
