Remember boys and girls - it's all about choice! Personal choices about Linux and Window Managers, etc., are just that - Personal. I think that KDE is a great way to help newbies to switch to Linux, and after they're comfortable with it, they can experiment with others to see if they prefer something else.
(Of course, anyone who DOESN'T use KDE is an idiot!)
