In your original post you did not say which version of Mandrake you were 
using.
I assumed 10.0 or later which uses the 2.6 kernel and uses /etc/modprobe.conf 
to configure the kernel modules.

If you are using a 2.4 kernel, then the file is /etc/modules.conf
