Most of the time I add /var as well. /usr should be a large partition as well as /home, and / can be about 800mb up to 1gb if you load very many kernels. The reason I do the /usr is because that is where a lot of stuff goes that gets changed in the next upgrade and I have found minimal conflicts when that gets reformatted and /home is saved intact.
