okay...this is what I did...
first, you have to totally un-install
both wu-ftpd and anonftp...
then delete all /home/ftp directories...
everything...including etc,lib,pub, and bin...
then re-install Proftpd as usual...along with
its partner...either standalone,or inetd...
and wahlah.......
plus check all permissions...
