   Is this an OEM product or did you buy it retail. The reason I ask is that
the only CD-RW drive listed at Panosonics Web is a PCMCIA drive. All their
other recordable drives are DVD-RAM. There is no listing at all for 7585
drive but they do list a 24 speed CR-585 CD-ROM drive. This could be why
neither Linux or Windows
recognizes it as a CD-RW because it is not.
