[newbie] rdate? xntpd? ntpdate?

Hello All,

what is the best way to keep the system syncronised?

rdate -s time.nist.gov

returns "not found". did i messed up my installation?
the same command string works in Red Hat 6.2

may be there is a better solution like xntpd from BSD?
