The way this sounds is that you are facing lilo, not grub.
Log into Linux as root, check if grub is installed:
cd /boot/grub
Does that work? then run ./install.sh and grub will install itself.
If it does not work, you have to find grub....rpm on the cd, install that,
and perform the above procedure.
