have you considered VMWare? you could get the NT version and run Linux on
it, or (better) get the Linux version and run NT on it (was well as various
other Linux distros, BSD for Intel...(?))

personally, I started using "removable" IDE disks about a year ago - very
simple, very clean... each "setup" has its own disk in a removable tray...
swap the hardware, and you are ready to go with the new environment...I
believe this is also available with SCSI... of course, this may not suit
your situation exactly...

in answer to your question, I always used NT boot loader, as it seemed very
territorial about the mbr...lilo then ended up on the linux partition... (if
my recollection serves me...) you might try System Commander - a good multi
OS manager that worked reliably for me...
