Thanks David for the directory listings and for taking the trouble to
respond, but there is no sign of emacs in Linux Complete. I bought the
4-disk boxed set with a disk of upgrades and emacs is nowhere to be
found. Xemacs consists of three files on the second disk in the RPMS2
directory:
xemacs-21.1.12-2mdk.i586.rpm
xemacs-extras-21.1.12-2mdk.i586.rpm
xemacs-mule-21.1.12-2mdk.i586.rpm
I can live with xemacs but I cannot reproduce all the key bindings which I
had been used to under emacs for ten years. As a hunt-and-peck typist I
prefer single keystroke shortcuts.
However, it is a bit disturbing that a boxed distribution should be
missing such basic package files. I had noticed that ftp and telnet were
missing also. After bare ftp, gftp seems very awkward and clumsy.
Let's hope that the Mandrake 8.0 sets will be more "complete".
