Well, i started installing one movie player after another, and
found that mplayer was the one i liked best. ( The ASCII video output
is just amazing, even though it's almost unusable! ;oP )

well, anyway, while trying to install another one, the configure
script told me that the gcc version i'm using is "only used on
red-hat and red-hat based distributions" .. "buggy" .. "not supported".. and
that "i should downgrade or upgrade, to any different version" .. when i
tried to install anyway, it MADE ME TYPE "gcc is broken" in order to
complete the configure.. and even then, it did not finish.

well, then, i suppose i have to use a better gcc? i downloaded version
3.0.1 and after decompressing it, i configured.. and here are my
questions..

In the README it said something like " instead of make, you should use 'make
bootstrap' or 'make cross' is you want a cross compiler"

( what does this mean? what is a cross compiler? )

well, i just tried "make bootstrap". It started compiling... compiling.. and
then it did a little more compiling... and suddenly stopped on an "ERROR 1"
leaving me quite puzzled.. it said it didn't find a file to compile..? did i
download a bad/incomplete file?

i already tried bootstrap and cross. in X and in text mode.. i get the same
error every time..

am i doing something wrong? i've already installed several packages and
it's the first time i got this one...

and another question yet! i think this one is the most stupid.
I've noticed that some commands and binaries should be in my path, but
they are not. ... uhmmm.. how do i change my path settings??

thank you very much in advanced.

Damian.
