Try executing the following when you make changes to the network
/etc/rc.d/init.d/network restart
Why are you using pcmcia cards?
Or is this a portable computer?
I thought connection sharing would set up the card???
cd  /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts
look and see if you have ifcfg-eth1
if you don't cp ifcfg-eth0 ifcfg-eth1
#===== ifcfg-eth1 ========
DEVICE=eth1
BOOTPROTO=static
IPADDR=192.168.0.1
NETMASK=255.255.255.0
NETWORK=192.168.0.0
BROADCAST=192.168.0.255
ONBOOT=yes
#======================
Then execute /etc/rc.d/init.d/network restart
Then see if you can ping the computers
