This is absolutely not what you are looking for, but why not back up
your windows data, wipe the drive, repartition and install clean? You
get the added benefits of "refreshing" Windows.

I *never* do an overlay install. I find the time it takes me to back
up, reformat, reinstall, re-configure is more than repaid by the time
that I DON'T spend trying to fix things which are mysteriously broken.

Probably not that helpful, but I thought I should pipe up.
