Mandrake comes with a smp kernel (multi processor kernel). Maybe give that a try, see how it is setup, then try and emulate that. It may take longer to learn it, but you will gain experience dealing with multiple CPU's. I haven't used a dual CPU system so I don't really know, just an idea.
