Easiest way is to use one CD to run Update, and cancel everything but bootloader then let it put the boot record where it belongs. It works fine dual-booting from there without disturbing the other OS. Of course if you reinstall the other OS you will need to use CD1 as a rescue to get back into linuc and re-run /sbin/lilo.
