i'm running mandrake 8.2. i've configured smb.conf, and got it working, so that it is accessible from a win98 machine.
one strange issue is every now and then, i will not be able to connect from win98, with the error dialog box: //mandrake is not accessible no permission to access resource whenever this happens, i'll just login as root, and delete a duplicate smbd process that somehow exists. eg, $ ps -u root 1681 ... smbd 1682 ... nmbd ... 8429 ... smbd $ kill 8429 this always fixes the problem. does anyone know why i get the duplicate process? thanks
