Did you install from an rpm?

Does it appear on your menu?

If it has installed correctly (see questions above) and you use kde, you 
don't need to do that.  Open kcontrol > Components > File Associations, 
type pdf in the search box, then click on pdf.  Acrobat Reader should be in 
the box on the right.  Move it to the top of the list, then save and exit.  
From now on a click on a pdf should cause it to be opened with AR.
