If you edit /usr/src/linux/Makefile, and change
EXTRAVERSION = -6mdkcustom
I do not have entries like this in the make file. Supposedly the make
file also works for kernels 2.4.xxxx. I do not understand a bit of what
are the instructions of the make file, I do not know programming.
Are you looking at the correct file? This is the make file in the kernel
source. (That is why I gave you the full path...) It should start out:
VERSION = 2
PATCHLEVEL = 6
SUBLEVEL = 11
EXTRAVERSION = -6mdkcustom
NAME=Woozy Numbat
Mikkel
No, we were not speaking of the same file. I'm sorry, I thought you were
speaking of the make file of the module, I'll make presently the change
you
suggest and report back what happened.
I was able to build my module. Instead of the substitution you suggested, I
had to make EXTRAVERSION=1-12mdksmp. What is left to do is the configuration
and here I have only one doubt, with which perhaps you will be willing to
help me. I have to make ifconfig <iface> <my IP address, and many other
configurations using <iface> which I do not know what it means. I am not
that newbie in Mandrake, but it seems I will never be able to master it as
many of you do. Sorry.
Teilhard
