There are two problems with books - they are usually talking about Red Hat/Fedora, and they are quickly out of date. There is much more information online. First, be aware that you have a lot of documentation already, if you installed the documentation packages. Take a look at K-menu > More Applications > Documentation. Then look at /usr/share/ for documentation for specific applications. It's also time to explore the community TWiki.
