I did a fresh install today but I can't get things working right.
When I did the original install I got it to boot and start KDE. Now
that I've done a new install it boots to to a command line. If I
tell it to startx, it refuses, saying it can't find any screens.
It also indicates it's an X.org problem.
When you ran the installer, did you specify all of your settings
for your video card and monitor?
No I didn't. I've never had to do that before and I've been running
Mandriva/Mandrake since 8.0. It always detected that stuff fine. It
must have found it okay on the upgrade I did on Sunday but it's not
finding it on the clean install I did today.
Try running XFdrake from a root console.

I did another fresh install and things were still the same. As it turns
out, although Mandriva recognized my monitor and ATI graphics card, it
seems to have picked the wrong driver as a default. I was getting an
error telling me to change something. There aren't many options to
change so I selected another driver. Things seem to be working fine now.
