A strange thing has happened to the mouse in my ancient 8.2

Seriously though the cursor is stuck in the upper left hand
corner. When I try to move out of it the cursor just goes right back
there. If I am real careful, I can get a context menu and use the
arrow keys to select it's options. Actually two different context
menus. How can I restore my mouse to normal operation. Oh, safe
mode works.
Well, I am not sure about 8.2, but I would try drakemouse and reset the
mouse type. This problem is usually because the mouse settings, and the
protocol the mouse are using do not agree. One way this happens is if
the mouse has a switch on the bottom to change it it. It can also
happen with software controlled mice when you change operating systems
with out powering down. The mouse is in the wrong mode for the current
OS. It tends to be more of a problem with serial mice then PS/2 or USB mice.
