I've had the same problem with a Keytronic KVM and Logitech mouse through
various versions of Mandrake and Mandriva. The problem is the loss of
synchronization when changing from one system to another, particularly when
the protocol with the mose is lost in the transition, the new system is
trying to make sense of a 2 byte per movement incoming when it expects 3
bytes of report. The problem is usually 'cured' through changes in the lilo
and the mouse config to make all the systems use the same protocol with the
mouse.

In lilo.conf I add "psmouse.proto=bare" to the append (other values to try are
psmouse.proto=exps and psmouse.proto=imps).  In the XF80config I'm running:

Section "InputDevice"
    Identifier "Mouse1"
    Driver "mouse"
    Option "Protocol" "ExplorerPS/2"
    Option "Device" "/dev/mouse"
    Option "ZAxisMapping" "6 7"
EndSection

This works with the KVM but I lose the scroll wheel. I'm sure I could get it
back with some minor changes in the ZAxisMapping, above, but I never use it
and haven't bothered.
