Hi Ileen!

I do this on my home mac from my work mac very easily. If you are
working on a windows based machine, I don't know if it operates the
same, but I'll tell you what I do. The machine at work needs to be
on, the one that is serving your database. You need to make sure
that the server's preferences are set to TCP/IP in Filemaker; they
are under Edit, then Preferences, then application, then network
protocol. Be forewarned, if you change the server's preferences to
TCP/IP, you need to change every computer who uses your database to
TCP/IP as well, or they won't be able to host into the database.

Then, you simply dial up to your ISP, like you would to access the
web and open Filemaker. Then, hit hosts, then, at the bottom of the
screen ( you need to know the IP address of your server machine) hit
Specify Hosts. When you do that, you will get a dialog box asking
for the IP address of the server machine, you type it in and then you
should see all of your files residing on the host machine at work.

I hope this helps you out, if not, I hope someone else is able to help you.
