In Canada we have cycle lanes, they are easy to tag but in Ottawa we also have paved shoulders that get used by cyclists in summer and the snow is piled up on them for winter. How should a paved shoulder be tagged? I'm thinking more to be accessible to routing systems as well as being rendered.
The city also has some roads that are recommended for cyclists but not signed, typically these connect roads with cycle lanes or dedicated cycle paths. Then we also have dedicated cycle paths with a line down the centre to divide the flow where pedestrians have priority. These become ski trails in winter. Possibly as a path with pedestrians, and cycles allowed perhaps even March through November?
