Ok, I seem to be getting the grand tour of the Debian startx errors. Very educational, I must say. I ran the command below and set it up. My only unclear point is just a little muddy, not actually opaque. It asked about my video card, which is an Nvidia gforce 2 GTS. I'm assuming that the designation for this in the configurator is "nv". Is this not correct?

Regardless, I am now getting the message:

Fatal server error:
no screens found

This is rather mystifying. In a previous message line, it also says: "(EE) Screen(s) found, but none have a usable configuration." Any ideas on how to approach this? I'm afraid I haven't the foggiest idea what the message indicates solution-wise. Dr. Google has yet to provide a solution, but only after an admittedly short time looking. Thanks--

Andrew

Did you configure X at all? I think you can run "dpkg --reconfigure
xserver-xfree86" Or install an X configurator.

it's actually 'dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xfree86'

try that out. (by the way you're going to need to know what kind of graphics card you have.
