I've been playing with 9.2 for about 2 weeks now.  It's great.  Mandrake 
doesn't have a steep learning curve, so if your goal at the moment is just to 
get something that works (ie away from windows and become productive) I'd go 
for it.  You can dive into the really fun stuff later when you have time.  
For example, I don't use the graphical update / installer anymore, I do it 
all by command line now using urpmi (which is just as good as apt-get from 
debian / redhat)
