You really should take a look at Debian especially since Sarge was
just released.

A lot of people forget that part of being 'new' to Linux is not just
the install (which is far better across the spectrum of Linux flavors
now than it used to be), but also the _use_ of an OS.

Getting 'things' 'working' 'easily' can be harder than installation in
'some' 'cases'.

(Yes, I'm using single quotes excessively. . . it's to avoid too many
flames - please feel free to interpret the meaning of the words in
single-quotes as would best suit you)
