I can fill out Mandriva for you: Mandriva .rpm (for now?) DrakConf, Mandriva's graphical configuration tool. The question mark on Mandriva's use of rpm probably comes from some speculation from Ian Murdock (no relation) that Mandriva will become Debian based. I'm not sure where he got that wild idea, but who knows. The really cool thing these days is it mostly doesn't matter what packaging system a distro uses, from a user point of view. rpm and deb both have nice package management tools available, apt, yum, urpmi, and the up-and-coming (from Mandriva I might add) Smart Package Manager that is supposed to be better than them all: http://www.smartpm.org > distro | preferred desktop > ========================== > Mandrive KDE I use Gnome exclusively with Mandriva and it works great. I just remembered, you could try this to decide your distro: http://www.zegeniestudios.net/ldc/index.php Bryan -------------------- BYU Unix Users Group http://uug.byu.edu/ The opinions expressed in this message are the responsibility of their author.
