Well, before I wipe everything clean, I'll ask if anyone else has an

I've used Fedora for years and Red Hat before that, so I'm die-hard FC4
all the way. If you don't go with Fedora, though, the only other tenable
option in my mind is Ubuntu. It's a great distro too. (The reason why I
think you should go with one of those two isn't because of their technical
supremacy--most distros these days are more or less equal--but because
whichever distro you pick, you need to have people around who are familiar
with that distro's particular quirks and can help you when you get
stuck--and Fedora and Ubuntu seem to have the most users around here.)
On a side note, I am currently planning on running a cat5 line from my
utility closet where the fiber modem lives, to my office where I would
someday like to setup a server or something other project. If I were to
setup MythTV would I need a coax line run to the computer as well?
If you set up MythTV, you'll need a television input (I assume coax) to
the computer with the TV Tuner, yes. You'll also want network access to
the eventual MythTV box as well.
