Those are not instances, they are threads, to verify: `ps auxf` They stay idle so there is no problem.

I have successfully compiled newpki-server and client on Redhat 7.3, gcc 3.2.3 and wxGTK 2.4.2.
I have set up a PKI entity and a number of other entities as per the latest HOWTO. Everything seems to work fine.
However, I have observed that even after closing all the newpki-client programs (run on the same machine as newpki-server), there a a lot of newpki-server processes still running (approximately 80!). These have been there for at least 3 hours with no newpki-client activity at all.
There were not that many when newpki-server was started from the /etc/rc.d/init.d script.
I presume this is not supposed to happen:-)
Is there a problem with reaping child processes somewhere?
They disappear if /etc/rc.d/init.d/newpki-server stop is executed.
