Hi Paul, interesting enough, on my server-2.0.0-beta3 running on RH9.0 I could not observe any troubles with to many spawned procecces.
However, newpki_server is a memory boozer. But that depends on entities running. My 9 entities pull VSZ=727.840 (0.7 GB). This exceeds by a factor of 20 all other processes running on my system. The other machine with 2 entities pulls VSZ=520.000. This means, the mem managemnt of newpki needs an urgent revision. Also, the logs written into mysql exceed any reasonable amount. I alredy made a remark earlier and Frederic responded. >From my standpoint these points do make productive use of newpki -in the state of beta3 revision- quite questionable. I have set up a PKI entity and a number of other entities as per the latest HOWTO. Everything seems to work fine. However, I have observed that even after closing all the newpki-client programs (run on the same machine as newpki-server), there a a lot of newpki-server processes still running (approximately 80!). These have been there for at least 3 hours with no newpki-client activity at all. There were not that many when newpki-server was started from the /etc/rc.d/init.d script. I presume this is not supposed to happen:-) Is there a problem with reaping child processes somewhere? They disappear if /etc/rc.d/init.d/newpki-server stop is executed.
