Newton OS 2.0 has a much improved interface and introduces a lot of nicer
ways to move info around. Plus, much better handwriting recognition, and
easier methods to correct any mistake the the recognizer does. The 130 has a
lot more "heap" than a 120 with NOS 1.3, which translates to larger
documents that you can use, or keep more applications open simultaneously
(yes, you can do that in NOS 2.0).

Finally, the number of application packages available for NOS 2.0 is a lot
larger than what you can find for NOS 1.x.

If you move infos from NOS 1.x to NOS 2.x, all info should be converted,
even when on a card. However, once converted, you can't use those infos back
in a NOS 1.x unit, so make a backup of your card first!

Finally, I would add that even though the 130 is a nice Newton, right now
there are a few sellers that are parting with MessagePad 2100s from $75 to
much higher, depending on the unit condition. The MessagePad 2100 was and
still is the state of the art for a PDA. It runs on a processor that is 10
times faster than the one found in a 130, has 2 PCMCIA slots (as opposed to
only one in a 120/130), which means you can keep both a Flash RAM card *AND*
a regular *OR* a wireless (yes!) Ethernet card simultaneously. Since you can
use an Ethernet card with the 2100, that means you can surf the internet, in
addition of being able to send and receive emails much more efficiently than
what the 130 would be able to do. Current wireless drivers for the 2100 lets
you use it with your AirPort Base Station, or any other wireless access
point that supports AppleTalk packets. There are people that are even
running web servers off their 2100!

Plus, in addition of the backlight, like the 130, the 2100 can displays 16
shades of gray, which is 14 more than what a 130 can do.

Anyway, yes, as you can tell, I'm using a 2100. I even have a spare unit in
case something happens with my main unit. It might not have a color screen,
or maybe lacking a nifty camera, but it does more than all other current
PDAs out there and the handwriting recognition is simply the best!
