When I bought my first Nighthawk 700SC about three years ago, I practiced a
few runs up and down the highway with it and then I invited my wife to go
for a ride. So, she walked out and I was repositioning the bike for her to
get on in our gravel parking lot and the first thing I did was to get it
going downhill and then I applied the front brake to slow down. Bad move.
I went down in a heap right in front of her.

I still consider it a credit to her trust in me that after I picked the bike
up, she still got on to go for the ride. Either that or she has a suicidal
streak in her I hadn't suspected.

Since we are in the honesty road, then I'm also guilty.... I got my first NH
(and first bike) two months ago, and I put it down twice on the right side
and once on the left, also practicing/parking. About the same story, bend
leavers, scratch over there, but still running like nothing happened.

Keep riding.

I crashed 1996 750 last summer at about 35 miles an hour. It smacked
very hard on the right side. Bent the handle bars, front brake lever,
foot pegs, rear brake lever, you get the picture. I have had to
replace a lot of cosmetic stuff but that was 10,000 miles ago. Bike
us running great and I'm just replacing my back tire - it's over due.

My point is, I would watch things but don't worry about it. I don't
even count the time I did exactly the same thing as you in a parking
lot. These bikes are very well built. They are built for beginners.
If you couldn't drop these on their sides they wouldn't last.

Enjoy your ride and stay safe.
