Oh, no sooner did I post this... and I actually just this minute found a site that contains an exploded view of the frame and has answered my question! Sorry for taking up the space, but I guess I can tell you all that I was first bitten by the nighthawk bug a couple of years ago with a 1985 650, although at the time I just wasn't up for riding in the traffic, now that I have more experience though, I snapped up a Nighthawk rather hastily for a low price knowing it'll need some work, but I'm up for the challenge, I just wanted to make sure it was not colossally ruined in some way, as it is apparent it has been dropped/ slid, but that seems to be minor as far as I could make out, everything looks straight, and I rode it 200 km (124 mi) and it felt just fine, but then I noticed the frame after the fact at home in my garage, and it was a little startling at first to see a cut frame member.
This is the image which has shown me that it is indeed what it is supposed to be: http://www.bikebandit.com/assets/schematics/Honda/H00820066.gif I actually found that per-chance from a link in another post regarding body work for a 90's model! Go figure! I swear that didnt exist 10 minutes ago... -Josh (timhortons) On Jul 14, 3:39 pm, timhortons <[email protected]> wrote: > I wanted to ask about part of the frame on a 750, it's the first one > I've been up and close to, and I can't find any pictures online which > actually show what I'm interested in... on the right side of the bike, > where the engine mount is on the downtube from the neck, the engine > bracket has three bolts, and the frame is cut there with a small gap, > but it looks uniform in style and fitment to the rest of the brackets > and whatnot, so what I'm wondering, is the frame on other 1983 > Nighthawk 750's cut there and joined with a three-bolt engine bracket? > > I've got a > closeup:http://derelict.dnsalias.com/media/nighthawk-frame.jpghttp://derelict.dnsalias.com/media/nighthawk-frame-2.jpg(mostly > the > same as the first shot) > > If anyone could get back to me on this, I'd appreciate it!
