They told us at my MSF course this summer that you should turn it off in
case your carbs are malfunctioning. If the float gets stuck open, then fuel
will overflow, and it could even go down the intake into the engine.
Every time we got off the bikes, it was kill switch, ignition, fuel petcock;
and we had to turn them on again when we got back on the bikes.
