I have to hit reserve on my 750 NH about 170 miles then I dont go more than 20 before I get gas. I've never had a problem switching to reserve on the fly. Just reach down and turn the handle. Mack

I play it super safe and assume 20 miles tops, but I also mostly just commute so I'm never further than two miles from a good station. I typically get ~43mpg these days, so assuming a half gallon reserve ( low estimate) 20 miles will leave fumes.
