I second Javier's opinion of a NH650, if you are vertically challenged I'd take that over a shadow any day. No valve maintenance, cheap tires and insurance, shaft drive, plenty of get up and go, light handling, heavy enough to not get blown around. If you can deal with the height then a 700S would be my first choice for all the same reasons. After that a 90's NH750 or something like a GS850 if you don't mind doing some maintenance. GS has shaft but needs valve jobs, NH is chain but doesn't need valve jobs. Now if you don't mind maintenance costs, and want sporty then get a large displacement sport bike and call it a day.
