Horror. My beloved FM2 has started to mould! The hot and humid climate
of Samoa, where I live at the moment, has finally proved to be too much.
It only seems to be the body that has gone mouldy, however, and I have
tried to clean the mirror and other accessible parts without luck, since
there is no professional help to get out here in the middle of the
Pacific. The problem is that I will travel to Vanuatu and the Solomon
Islands in a couple of week's time and would hate to be without my Nikon
on this exiting trip. Can I kindly ask your advice on the following.
- Is there any way I can "de-mould" the body?
- My lenses (18 mm, 20 mm, 28-85mm) do not seem to have suffered, how
do I protect them in the future?
- Since the lenses are all right, will the mould show on my
pictures
if I continue to use the camera?
I sincerely hope someone can help me out on this.
Thank you in advance.
