The lens you describe is the first version of the AF 24/2.8. The first AF 
lenses have the features you describe:
- narrow plastic focusing ring
- rotating minimum aperture lock

The first AF 24/2.8 was in production from 10/86 - 06/91, when it was 
replaced with the newer model with the wider rubber focusing ring and a 
sliding aperture lock.

All versions of the 24/2.8 have CRC, and this lens has the same optics as 
the manual focus AI and AIS lenses, and the current AF-D version.

The slight scratch on the front element is not serious, especially since 
it is near the edge of the lens. It won't affect your pictures.
