Back in early November, I went to B&H in New York City and checked
the price for the Nikon F5. It had just come down to US$2000 (w/ USA
warranty)
at that time. I went again yesterday (December 24, 1998) and found out
that it had come down again to $1900 (USA warranty). That is essentially
1/3 off the original $2800 price tag two years ago.

Moreover, the rumor is that the F100 will be around $1400 or so, that is
somewhat higher than what I expect. Whether it will indeed be $1400 remains
to be seen, but that doesn't seem to be a very good buy if one can get
an F5 for "only" an additional $500.
