I don't think waiting for 28-70/2.8D AF-S is necessary if he wants the 24-120. With the price of 28-70 or even 35-70, he can get Metz flash. If low light is really a question, I would rather spend 300 or more on the Metz50-MZ and still getting the 24-120. For me 70mm is not long enough for general night-street scene.
