John,

The 0 and 1 diopters are designed primarily for short focal length 
lenses. The 3T, 4T, 5T, and 6T are multi-element design and provide 
superior edge performance with all lenses including short lenses. I 
personally own a 5T and a 6T which I use on both long lenses and short 
lenses with the use of step rings. That way I don't have to own two 
different sets.
