The problem isn't really the battery consumption, unless you are constantly
using the onboard flash. It's more so the availability of batteries. The
lithium battery isn't always as readily available in more remote areas as
the AA's that the F90X takes.

I've said it before on this list and I'll say it again, don't scoff at the
F601/6006, it's a great little camera. While it is now out of production,
it lasted at least 3 years longer than it was originally intended. For
several years it was sold right along side it's replacement, the F70. True,
it's AF is very outdated and slow, but still quite adequate.

One of the biggest plus's of this body is that all of the flash goodies are
built into the body which means that 3rd party flashes will give you rear
curtain sync, slow shutter sync and flash exposure compensation etc. It
also has built in exposure bracketing. To get this on my F90X I had to buy
an expensive MF-26 databack. Not to mention it has a standard screw in
cable release, price out a electronic cable release!

I have 3 Nikon bodies, an F90X c/w MF-26 and a MB-10, the F601 and an FE
c/w MD-12 winder and each one of them get used. There is nothing wrong with
a F601, don't let anybody tell you otherwise.

If you have the money go for the N90S because of the faster AF, newer
technology etc. but don't dismiss the 6006. Just my thoughts, if you have
any other questions email me at either address.
