I use Niko brand filters, distributed in the US by Riley Marketing. They are thin, well
made, optically flat, multi-coated, and less expensive than most brands.

Their customer service in the US is absolutely terrific. Their Canadian distributor is
beyond belief. I've had filters and other products that they carried on back order for
months. They just don't give a damn. I contacted Mrs Riley in Texas and she kindly
arranged for me to buy some filters directly from them.

Every one of my lenses has a Niko UV filter. (I shoot at airports and military bases
and
jet exhaust deposits the remnants of burned kerosene on the lenses and also can whip
up a
pretty good sandstorm, so filters for me are a must.) I also have several other Niko
filters. The only non-Niko filter that I own is one to correct for flourescent
lighting.
The Canadian distributor again couldn't be bothered to ship one to my local camera shop
and I had to buy another brand.

I'm a little surprised that Nikon with its Nikon and Nikkor trademarks haven't gone
after
the use of "Niko", but I'd buy their filters no matter what they named them.

I do not have any association with Niko or Riley Marketing other than as a very
satisfied
customer who will cheerfully buy their proucts in the future.
