I don't know how many of you have spoken to an audience of 3000, but I imagine you would not be saying some of the things we've seen here over the past few days. Every word you write is archived and fed to search engines. Behave the way you want to be remembered. For those who are not familiar with 'net etiquette: ignore noisemakers. If you reply to them in a public forum, you are as much at fault as they. *Everybody* who has commented on the "zealot" debate has cluttered our mailboxes with unwanted material, even those with good intent such as this one. It is chaff the readers should have lived without. When an opinion surfaces that you must contend, or you wish to lambast a person for making noise, do so in personal email. A personal note delivers a much more powerful message than one posted here, is less likely to cause escalation since the recipient doesn't feel the need to defend him or herself publicly, and best of all, it doesn't pollute our digest. Never, ever, bring private debate into a public forum. That is a banning offence - and I haven't banned anyone from the list yet. Perhaps some of the whiners and stirrers deserve a good shouting at. But not on stage - we came here to learn about our gear. Be a constructive poster, or an attentive lurker. Noisemakers are not welcome. -- _________________________________________________________________________ Andrew Donkin Nikon list administrator
