I'm jus' an amateur but I set -1EV comp on flash when
shooting people, because, generally, their faces are small
compared to their clothing and their clothing is dark
compared to their faces, resulting in overexposure of the
face (and perfect exposure of the clothes) if you don't
compensate.  BTW, I use colour negative film.
