Dear fellow Nikon users,

Although I've been pretty much quiet for the past few months I've never
missed a single digest in that time. Concerning the debate about the digest
form - my vote and my heart is for digest form, as it is. But my main
message isn't directly Nikon related so - my appollogies.

I belive many of you heard of IRC (Internet relay chat) and since there are
a couple of thousand nikon - digest subscribers I belive my task will be
accomplished as I would like it to be. With all the respect to the digest
and to Andrew D. a thought crossed my mind. There are many times and
opportunities that some of use would need an adequate and users -experienced
(if not professional) answer the next minute we ask our question. Short but
competent answers for 35mm format useres, either they're nikon, canon,
leica, pentax or minolta users. Wouldn't that be a thrill? And IRC is the
solution, I belive. I'm ready to set photography devoted IRC #room on the
undernet.org irc servers network but I need support for that from at least
ten users. To cut the long story short - I WILL set up the #room with or
without your help. Those of you who are ready to help will probably get op
status after a short period of time when #room gets alive. Concerning the
name - I will appreciate any of your suggestions and votes (e.g. #photo35mm,
#photoworld, #photographers...). I promise to be very democratic channel op
open to pros & newbies concerning all their questions & suggestions related
to photography. That's about it. Now, what I expect form at least 10
supporters is:
1) to my personal e-mail below send your e-mail adresses from your internet
providers but DO NOT SEND ALIASES mail adresses like yahoo, geocities,
altavista, hotmail...
2)Those of you who have experience with IRC please send also your nicknames
that you most often use

I will keep everybody posted (including the nikon - digest) about the
progress of building and registering a #room. For those who don't know what
IRC is and offers please check their web sites www.mirc.com (and download
the mIRC program, about 900k, 10 mins download) and www.undernet.org (to
check out the rules and all other specifications). I really appreciate any
help from fellow Nikon users and I'm looking forward meeting you on IRC
soon! You're all more than wellcome!!!

tanx a bunch, ales
