Even momentary loss of contact causes the MF-26 to reset to its original dates. There have been several postings about this. Cold weather is a frequent cause suggesting a thermal expansion issue is involved in some occurrences. (Were you outside and was it cooler than the camera usually is kept?) There are a couple solutions to this.. 1. Try tightening the screw holding the battery door. Last fall I'd replaced the batteries when they'd run out (as evidenced by the flashing display). While shooting in a winter storm, it reset 3-4 times. Tightening the screw on the door took care of it. 2. Mel Hughes has suggested... get a sheet of closed cell foam that was relatively thin, and cut two small, battery sized pieces. Insert these behind the electrical contacts in the MF26, insuring constant contact with the battery. 3. Others have just bent the contacts a bit. Best of luck, Steve MacLeod N90s in Kalamazoo
