I use a rather good combination to carry my AF-S 300/2.8 or even my AF-S
500/4.0. It is the nikon soft bag FLC 59 designed for the 500mm, with this
soft bag I can have F5 + TC 14 E + AF-S 300/2.8 + hood. It is a resistant
bag you can carry on your shoulder or put in an other backpack. It is not
very discrete Yellow with a big Nikon written on it (I have taken it off)
and rather broad at the bottom. You can use it outside without people
knows what's in.
