The limit there is $30,000.  If you do not bring in at least $30,000
annually, you do not have to file with the state division.  (Please
note that this is state-dependent; other states may have different
limits.)

The 990-N, for organizations which have revenues of less than $50,000
annually, is free, consists of exactly 4 questions, and is done
entirely online, within 5 minutes time.

NLUG never stopped being a nonprofit corporation.  The difference is
that NLUG never filed for federal recognition.
